Seems like every year in July I get the urge to climb the ranked ladder of a digital card game, and this year I stumbled upon Marvel Snap.
I started playing last month after checking it out a bit at launch.
I had no issues going from my initial rank 5 to rank 90, as players at these ranks didn't seem to be very skilled, but going from 90 to 100 took me about a week, and required developing a specialized deck.
I ended up with the following deck:
(1) Rocket Raccoon
(1) America Chavez
(2) Surge
(2) Sentinel
(2) Cable
(3) Agent Coulson
(4) Shang-Chi
(4) Jessica Jones
(5) Iron Man
(5) Devil Dinosaur
(5) Enchantress
(6) Hulk
- Rocket Raccoon and America Chavez are great value for 1-energy cards.
- Surge is a very good card in general, especially if you draw it early.
- Sentinel, Cable, and Agent Coulson are good ways to play things early-on while getting maximum value from Devil Dinosaur in the late game, with a chance of getting very good cards from them, as Series 4 and 5 contain many cards.
- Shang-Chi and Enchantress are good counters to pretty much everything that seemed to be in meta, except Destroy decks, from which you can retreat I guess.
- Jessica Jones, Iron Man, Devil Dinosaur and Hulk offer the raw power the deck needs to actually win locations.
